Insurance broker
An intermediary that represents the customer and can place business with multiple insurers.
A broker works for you rather than for one insurer, and can compare terms across the market. That is the structural difference from an agent, who represents the insurer that appointed them.
If comparing across insurers matters to you, a broker is the intermediary type that does it.
