Life assured
Also called life insured.
The person whose life is covered. A claim arises on their death.
The life assured is whose life the policy is written on. Underwriting assesses this person’s age, health and occupation.
Where the policyholder and the life assured are different people, both appear on the proposal form and the relationship between them is recorded.
