Family history
Health conditions among close relatives, which insurers ask about because some risks run in families.
Proposal forms ask whether parents, siblings, spouse or children have suffered from, or died before a stated age of, listed conditions — cancer, heart disease, stroke, diabetes, kidney disorders and certain hereditary conditions among them.
It is one input among many rather than a disqualification, and it is asked because some risks genuinely cluster in families.
